OHIO STATE PARK LODGES, January 7, 2014 – Couples seeking a scenic destination for their wedding – like an expansive green lawn with a view of water or an elegant gazebo ceremony with a backdrop of lush woods and chirping birds – will find affordable and festive choices at Ohio State Park Lodges.

Located throughout the central and northern parts of the state, five Ohio State Park Lodges operated by Xanterra Parks & Resorts all offer an array of services and packages that make wedding planning a breeze. The five lodges are located within an easy drive of major cities throughout Ohio, so guests will be undeterred by distance even though the weddings may feel like they are located far from home.

Salt Fork State Park Lodge is 12 miles from Cambridge near the I-70/I-77 interchange. Mohican State Park Lodge is east of I-71 approximately 75 miles from both Columbus and Akron. Punderson Manor State Park Lodge is 35 miles east of Cleveland north of US-422. Maumee Bay State Park Lodge is 12 miles east of Toledo and north of the Ohio Turnpike (I-80). Deer Creek State Park Lodge is 35 miles south of Columbus east of I-71.

“Many of the couples we work with have big dreams, and we work closely with them to ensure their special day is a worry-free celebration no matter what their budgets,” said Dianna Rom, regional director of sales and marketing for Ohio State Park Lodges. “Ohio State Park Lodges offer a combination of natural beauty, a wide array of facilities and affordability, and our talented and dedicated sales and catering staff in each location work closely with each couple to help them plan their perfect day.”

Each lodge is as distinctive as the parks where they are located. Punderson Manor State Park Lodge in northeast Ohio’s stunning Geauga County is an elegant Tudor-style mansion that appeals to couples dreaming of a sophisticated celebration.  Maumee Bay State Park Lodge in northwest Ohio is situated on the shore of Lake Erie, and its nautical-themed interior design often appeals to outdoorsy couples seeking a casual event.

In addition to helping couples plan their weddings, staff in each location will work with them on lodge and cottage accommodations and pre- and post-wedding recreation like golf and children’s activities. Staff also help arrange menus and tastings and put couples in touch with florists, DJs, officiates, bakers and transportation services.

Punderson Manor State Park Lodge offers two outdoor locations and four private banquet rooms for ceremonies accommodating 30 to 100 guests. The elegant and intimate lodge features an 18-hole championship woodland golf course, boating and fishing, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, children’s activities and other park activities like disc golf and geocaching. Accommodations include lodge rooms as well as cottages.

Deer Creek State Park Lodge features ceremony venues for up to 250 people including an elegant lakeside gazebo with views of Deer Creek Lake, grand ballroom and mezzanine. Some couples choose to stay – and prepare for the wedding – in the lodge’s historic Harding Cabin, where President Warren G. Harding enjoyed playing cards and visiting with close associates. The cabin overlooks Deer Creek Lake and features sleeping accommodations for up to eight people, a full kitchen, laundry facilities, fireplace, private boat dock and screened-in porch. Accommodations include lodge rooms and cottages.

Maumee Bay State Park Lodge features two outdoor ceremony venues with views of Lake Erie as well as a large outdoor tent that can accommodate up to 130 guests. This sprawling, scenic lodge offers an array of activities for guests and couples, from golf to water activities. It features a championship golf course, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, soft play area for young children and beach activities like a water slide and bicycle rentals. Accommodations are in the lodge as well as cottages, some which can accommodate more than one family.

Mohican State Park Lodge offers couples a lush forest setting for their special day. The lodge can accommodate up to 150 guests in the ballroom as well as arrange outdoor ceremonies on the public patio. Mohican is known for its abundance of wildlife, especially birds, as well as its proximity to area attractions including Malabar Farm State Park and Amish Country. On-site facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, outdoor play areas, game room and exercise room. Accommodations are in the lodge.

Salt Fork State Park Lodge is located in Ohio’s largest state park, and the lodge itself is located several miles from the park entrance, making the destination feel remote while being easily accessible from Columbus, Cleveland and other major cities in Ohio. The park itself features an array of forested hills, meadows and valleys. The lodge can accommodate weddings for up 450 people for banquets and 900 guests for receptions. Boating and fishing are big at this park, which features two marinas and the massive Salt Fork Lake. Accommodations include lodge rooms and cottages, including many cottages with striking lake views.
