Holiday Shopping For National Park Enthusiasts? Look Online For Products From Yellowstone, Grand Canyon And Other Popular Parks

Holiday shoppers looking for distinctive and affordable gifts for the national park enthusiasts on their lists will find plenty of ideas in an unexpected place – online gift stores featuring popular products from retail stores in Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Crater Lake, Death Valley and Rocky Mountain National Parks and Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Grand Canyon Railway also features an online store. All of the shops are operated by concessioner Xanterra Parks & Resorts.

“U.S. national park visitors are enthusiastic but highly discerning gift store shoppers when they visit a park in person, and they understandably expect – and we deliver – quality products at a fair price,” said Bill Bub, vice president of retail for Xanterra, operator of the concessions in the parks. “Both our online and physical stores feature a choice of products that are hand-crafted by local artisans and other high-quality keepsakes that show off the talents of local craftspeople or reflect the destination.”

Bub added that the parks have long been committed to offering environmentally friendly items, and many products available online reflect that commitment. “Sustainable or environmentally friendly products include those that are made from renewable or recycled materials, locally made, recyclable, organic or made by a company with socially responsible practices,” he said. “For example, we offer an array of locally made food products like ‘Wild Huckleberry Jam’ from Yellowstone, ‘Desert Creatures Hot Sauces’ from Death Valley and Oregon-made ‘Cary’s English Toffee’ from Crater Lake Lodge.”

Here are a few other examples of online gift store items available to holiday shoppers:

Mount Rushmore National Memorial – Black Hills gold jewelry sells well both online and at Xanterra’s gift store in this iconic South Dakota destination. A Black Hills gold barrel charm sells for $56.

Rocky Mountain National Park – The likeness of an elk from this rugged park is on this Colorado-made handcrafted 20-ounce mug. Rocky Mountain National Park is famous for its vistas and wildlife, and the Trail Ridge Gift Store – open during the park’s summer season – sells many other products that reflect the rugged park.

Yellowstone National Park – The Yellowstone Ultimate Adventure Planner is a great gift idea for anyone who has a future Yellowstone traveler on their list. Priced at $69.99, this gift set includes a Yellowstone DVD, a colorful book about wildlife in Yellowstone and adjacent Grand Teton National Park, book featuring easy day hikes in Yellowstone, illustrated trail map, field guide to the park’s geothermal features, field guide to mammals and parks in Yellowstone and Grand Teton and other materials that will help make trip planning a breeze.

Death Valley National Park – Furnace Creek Resort offers its popular date nut bread for $8.99. The resort’s bakery prepares more than 10,000 loaves every year following the same recipe that has been used for decades.

Crater Lake Lodge – Crater Lake Lodge sells an Oregon-made coffee mug for $17.99. The sturdy mug features an embossed National Park Service logo.

Grand Canyon National Park – The Desert Beverage Trio for $30.97 features three popular beverage mixes in a gift pack. The set includes Desert Tea, Desert Hot Chocolate and Prickly Pear Lemonade.

Grand Canyon Railway – Located in Williams, Ariz., Grand Canyon Railway provides a family-friendly Western experience during its two-hour and 15-minute excursion to Grand Canyon National Park. A popular coffee table book, “The Grand Canyon Railway: Sixty Years in Color,” tells the story of the train’s history and its importance in the development of tourism to Grand Canyon National Park.
