Tim Schoonover, Vice President for Xanterra Travel Collection, oversees the company’s entire retail portfolio, including stores in National Parks, world-class resorts and its Windstar Cruise line. Schoonover is also responsible for the corporate management of the company’s National Park operations at Mt. Rushmore National Memorial and Rocky Mountain National Park.
Schoonover previously served as Executive Vice President, Licensing & Merchandising, for CORE Media Group. His teams led the worldwide retail, licensing and affiliated merchandising efforts across all CORE Media Group businesses, including Elvis Presley Enterprises, Muhammad Ali Enterprises, 19 Entertainment/American Idol artist portfolios, and Sharp Entertainment television properties.
Schoonover brings more than a quarter-century of travel, leisure and entertainment revenue & operations experience to Xanterra. Before joining CORE Media Group in 2007, Schoonover led the corporate merchandising group for Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company for seven years. At Hershey, Schoonover was responsible for leading the company’s merchandising group in its related resorts, theme parks and Sports & Entertainment group.
Schoonover was Vice President of Retail Operations with Six Flags Corporation in its New Jersey operation before joining Hershey. In addition, Schoonover has also held related positions in the duty-free, cruise line and airport businesses in key buying and merchandise management roles with Weitnauer America (Dufry), where he sourced and managed product for stores onboard Carnival Cruise Lines, as well as several U.S. airport duty-free operations. He started his management career with Aramark Inc. in both Miami and Orlando within Aramark’s airport division.
A graduate of State University of New York, Schoonover is married and has one child.
