XANTERRA TRAVEL COLLECTION’S RESPONSE TO COVID-19

As the proud stewards of several national parks–including the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Glacier – and owners of Country Walkers, VBT, Holiday Vacations, the Grand Canyon Railway, and Windstar Cruises, we have had the honor and privilege of providing a world of unforgettable experiences to guests since our beginnings as the privately-held Fred Harvey Company in 1876.

The rise of the coronavirus pandemic, also known as COVID-19, has presented the travel industry and our society with an unprecedented set of challenges. From airlines, to tour operators, to cruise companies, to restaurants and retailers, to our guests and employees, our families and friends.

We want to assure you that your health and safety are a top priority, which is why we have made the difficult decision to close our national park lodges, hotels, and the Grand Canyon Railway until May 22. Additionally, we have halted cruises and tours to destinations that have been flagged as “do not travel” by the US Department of State through April at this time, and have been working with top medical experts to stay as knowledgeable as possible. We are working with guests impacted by cancelled trips to provide alternative travel dates through 2021 and/or refunds. We have relaxed our cancellation policies in our tour and cruise businesses to give you confidence in booking future trips with us through 2021.

When the time is right, we want you to experience immersive and inspiring travel with all of the brands of the Xanterra Travel Collection. We’re proud to work in the travel industry as vacations are such enriching experiences that we share with our families and friends. But right now we need to share in the effort to work together and get through this difficult time. We’ll continue to monitor events and act responsibly with health and safety in mind as we believe that you, our guests, deserve tranquility and peace of mind during your vacation.

Sincerely,
Andrew N. Todd

While many things are uncertain right now, we want to assure you that we are in daily communications with the National Park Service, local governments, and medical professionals regarding the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19. As of this moment we are expecting to open our national park lodges and facilities by May 22, 2020; however, we are in a very dynamic environment and will do what is in the best interests of our guests and employees. If we need to move our opening date, we will immediately reach out to guests impacted via email as well as post on our websites. We hope to welcome you to A World of Unforgettable Experiences soon, but in the meantime stay healthy, stay safe, and stay home!

You will be notified by your brand if any tours or cruise itineraries are changed or cancelled or hotels closed based on governmental advisories. Please check this page regularly for the most up-to-date information.

We are closing all national park operations March 20 – May 21, 2020 with the exception of Cedar Creek Lodge and Glacier National Park Lodges, which will open on May 15. You can find information and links to each of our national park websites below.

We have cancelled all Windstar Cruises through May 21, 2020, and Holiday Vacations, VBT, and Country Walkers tours through May 31. You can find information and links to each of our tour and cruise brands’ cancellation policies below. Ongoing Actions

At Xanterra Travel Collection, the safety of our guests, and staff is our #1 priority. It is also the reason behind many of the things that we do on a daily basis.

We anticipate that you may have questions surrounding our efforts to manage coronavirus (COVID-19). Our robust sanitation protocol has been in place for many years at all our brands. These continuing efforts include:

  • Widespread availability of alcohol-based hand sanitizer in all guest check-in areas, food outlets, cash registers, and tour vehicles
  • Disinfecting hard surfaces of all of our lodges multiple times per day, including restrooms, counters, furniture, room keys, elevators, and telephones
  • Around-the-clock housekeeping of all of our lodges’ public areas
  • Daily housekeeping of all hotel guest rooms
  • Replacement of serving utensils when items are refreshed at our restaurants
  • Regularly educating our staff on the importance of (and enforcing adherence to) established policies on hand washing, covering sneezes, and staying home if they are feeling under the weather

We’ve recently enhanced this ongoing regimen with the following:

    • Sanitizing all exterior doorknobs and handles every two (2) hours
    • Sanitizing all guest room doorknobs daily

We also continue to adopt all reasonably prudent sanitization measures as prescribed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and encourage you to refer to this respected resource as you make your own near-term travel plans.

Together with you, we will minimize the risk of any illness.
