Xanterra Parks & Resorts To Donate $100,000 Worth Of School Supplies To Students In Need Throughout Denver And Other Communities

Greenwood Village-based Xanterra Parks & Resorts, operator of restaurants, lodges and other concessions in national and state parks as well as resorts across the country, is teaming up with World Vision to provide $50,000 worth of school supplies and backpacks to families in need throughout Denver and in communities near Yellowstone and Grand Canyon National Parks where Xanterra operates concessions. The company plans to distribute the same amount of supplies in 2013 as well.

The World Vision SchoolTools program identifies students from families that fall below the federal poverty level. World Vision and Xanterra chose to support schools in areas where the company has operations in close proximity.

Xanterra will donate more than 2,200 backpacks containing school supplies this year. A team from the corporate office will assemble the packs for children from Montbello’s McGlone and Amesse Elementary Schools Aug. 8, 2012. On Aug. 9 teams from Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Parks will assemble backpacks and supplies to donate to children from schools at the Grand Canyon and the towns of Gardiner and West Yellowstone, Mont. outside of Yellowstone. On Aug. 10 a team from Grand Canyon Railway will distribute packs to local schoolchildren in the town of Williams, Ariz.

“Xanterra values the communities where its employees live, and the World Vision SchoolTools program allows us to demonstrate our commitment to our communities in a tangible way,” said Andrew N. Todd, president and CEO of Xanterra. “This also provides our employees an opportunity to demonstrate teamwork which is one of our core company values.”
